It is reported that 75% of women will suffer from yeast infections at some point in their lives. Although this is a common infection many women still find it difficult to discuss the problem with their doctors. There are plenty of medications available that will treat this problem, but a lot women are now looking for more natural ways to deal with the condition.

Yeast infections when being discussed by the medical profession are also referred to as Candida. All forms of these kinds of infections are caused by various different groups of microscopic fungi or yeast being able to attack the body. With there currently being 20 different kinds of yeast infection that a woman may suffer from, and the most common of these being Candida Albicans. However not only can women suffer from yeast infections so can men as this type of fungi lives on all our bodies.

In fact anyone no matter what age they are can suffer from yeast infection. But the most common types you will have heard of are vaginal yeast infection, thrush, diaper (nappy) rash as well as yeast infections of the skin and nails as well.

In most cases a person will suffer from yeast infection in areas of the body that are warm and moist. So the underarms as well as the areas around the vagina and anus are very susceptible to this form of infection. Normally our skin is able to block the yeast from gaining access to these particular and so prevent it from being able to multiply. However if a person suffers from any sort of damage to the skin (say for example a cut) then this particular kind of microscopic organism has the chance to penetrate the area in question and to start to develop.

Certainly for children the areas where they are most likely to be prone to suffering from some form of yeast infection is around the mouth as well as the diaper area. Although adults may suffer from yeast infections of the mouth they are much more susceptible to this kind of infection as they grow older especially if they wear dentures. But a lot of the yeast infections that adults and babies suffer from are very superficial and can be easily treated.

But there are a few cases of yeast infection, although these are very rare and which given the chance can affect the whole body. In such cases as these the mortality rate is very high. Often only 1 in 4 people who suffer from such an infection are likely to be treated and cured. So even if you suffer from an infection to the mouth or genital area if left untreated can be come extremely complicated and dangerous and normal medications will not be able to treat it.

Certainly the biggest problem we face today when it comes to yeast infections, even though diagnosing it is easy, is what has actually caused it to occur in the first place. There are many different things which can cause an infection to happen for example a person who has been taking antibiotics for another kind of infection may develop a yeast infection. This is because unfortunately their immune system has become comprised and so they do not have sufficient antibodies in their body to be able to fight of the yeast fungi as it begins to multiply.

There however have been recent developments in the ways in yeast infections can be treated using more natural and holistic cures being made available. But the great thing about these kinds of cures for yeast infections is that they treat the root cause and will help to prevent it from occurring in the first place. There are a number of products that are now available such as “Yeast Infection Away” and “Yeast Infection No More”. “Yeast Infection Away” claims that it is able to treat and cure yeast infections in 12 hours, whilst “Yeast Infection No More” which offers a more holistic approach will seek to remove the threat of Candida permanently.
